How to Get Google Index Your WordPress Blog in Just A Few Days

I am not an expert on the subject, but when I start my blog, there are some things I start, and almost always succeed.

1. Preferably use your own domain to start a blog. Write 5-6 original articles. Choose keywords or tags carefully. If you are using WordPress, there are some good SEO plugins all in one SEO plugin, headspace, platinum SEO, Greg's high-performance SEO and more.

2. Use beautiful permalinks. If you are using WordPress, go to Admin-> Settings-> Paramalink-> Select Custom Structure- Insert% /% Category% /% Postname% / in the blank field. 3. Now go to Admin -> Settings-> Privacy-> Blog Visibility and make sure you have "I would like my blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Google, Bing, Technorati) and archives".

4. Use ping services such as pingoat.com or feedping.com or Feedburner ping shot. You can also go to Admin-> Settings-> Write-> Update Services and copy and paste URLs of Pinging Services and save changes.

Pinging services alert other blogs and blog search sites that you have posted a new article. You will find a swarm of web spiders on your site after posting a new article.

5. Now go to some other blogs which have articles on similar topics and comment there. Leave your website address there. Do not make your comment as spam and always put your name in the name field and nothing else that can make your comment like spam. This is the most important part because Google Spiders will eventually come to your site after the link.

6. Now go to Google webmasters site. Log in with your Google Account. Add Your Site Verify as described there and add your sitemap location. If you have not already created a Sitemap, use the Google XML Sitemap Generator plugin. To go to the Sitemap go to Google Webmaster Tools-> Choose your website address from the domain list-> Site Configuration-> Sitemap-> Click Submit Sitemap.

7. You can also increase Googlebot traffic to your site so that your site gets indexed quickly. Just go to Google Webmaster Tools-> Choose your website address from the domain list-> Site Configuration-> Settings-> Crawl Rate-> Set Custom Crawl Rate.

Ten Steps And Eight Days To Google Indexing Your Site

I am definitely not an expert, but a website I recently started working on Google by creating a new record presence (for me). I created the first page for this site on Saturday and the following Saturday afternoon the home page appeared in the Google index.

Ten Steps to Google Index

First I made 5 original pages. I then took 5 pages from EzineArticles and posted them on my new website. All these pages are related to the same topic. March 31, 2007

Create a link page

I then created a link page and linked to several websites in the same local area as my website. March 31, 2007

Create a sitemap

I created a site map of my site with links to all my pages on the site. I linked all the pages of the site to my home page and to my site map. March 31, 2007

Verify with google

Next I verified the site with my Google account. I went to Google Webmaster Tools and followed the guidelines to verify my site. It took about 10 minutes. It is a simple process. 1 April 2007

Create Sitemap.xml

I then created a site map --Sememap.xml-- I searched Google for "how to create a site map" and saw a site that created my sitemap for me. I created a generic web site map with an .xml end. 1 April 2007

After that I loaded my sitemap on my website. I named the page "Sitemap.xml". 1 April 2007

Google has accepted the Sitemap

I then put the URL in my sitemap box in Google Webmaster Tools. I checked the next day and Google accepted it. 1 April 2007

Next I submitted an article on EzineArticles.com. One of the articles I wrote for my website I submitted. I have changed the links to some articles that were already accepted by the Ezine Article to include a link to my new website. 3 links. 1-3 April 2007

Link to another website

I have another website to which I have placed two links which are in the same industry as the new website. This other website is not rated highly by Google, in fact the page number of any page is not above zero. I thought it couldn't hurt so I fell into one or two links. 2 more links April 3, 2007

eBay auction link

I am also putting a link to my new website in two auctions that I am running on eBay. 2 more links April 3, 2007

Checking for Domain of Appearance in Google Index

It did not appear on the morning of the seventh day, but I showed several links posted on wordpress. I kept checking for domain names on Google. Seven days and 16 hours later on Saturday afternoon when I first listed mydomainname.Googlepages.com, the home page of my new website popped up as I searched for it. I am not linking to the website in this article because I do not want this article to affect website traffic. The search shows that Google has 180,000 pages in their index with two words, which I used in my new free twowords.Googlepages.com title. My new website featured as number two. 2007/04/07

Methods Used to Prevent Google Indexing

Have you ever needed to prevent Google from indexing a particular URL on your website and displaying it in your search engine result pages (SERPs)? If you manage web sites for a long time, a day will come when you need to know how to do it.

The three methods commonly used by Google to prevent indexing of URLs are:

Using the rel = "nofollow" attribute on all anchor elements used to link to the page to prevent links from being followed by the crawler.
Using a disallow directive in the site's robots.txt file to prevent the page from being crawled and indexed.
Using the meta robot tag with the content = "noindex" attribute to prevent the page from being indexed.
While the differences in the three approaches seem subtle at first glance, the effectiveness can vary greatly depending on the method you choose.

Using rel = "nofollow" to stop Google indexing

Many inexperienced webmasters try to prevent Google from indexing a particular URL by using the rel = "nofollow" attribute on HTML anchor elements. They add attributes to each anchor element of their site used to link to that URL.

The inclusion of the rel = "nofollow" attribute on a link prevents Google's crawler from following the link, which in turn, prevents them from searching, crawling, and indexing the target page. While this method can serve as a short-term solution, it is not a viable long-term solution.

The drawback with this approach is that it considers all inbound links to the URL that would include a rel = "nofollow" attribute. However, the webmaster has no way to prevent other web sites from linking with URLs. So chances are that the URL will eventually be crawled and indexed using this method.

Using robots.txt to stop Google indexing

Another common method used by Google to prevent URLs from being indexed is to use a robots.txt file. A rejected directive can be added to the robots.txt file for the URL in question. Google's crawler will honor the directive that prevents the page from being crawled and indexed. However, in some cases, the URL may still appear in the SERPs.

Sometimes Google will display a URL in their SERPs, although they have never indexed the content of that page. If enough web sites link to the URL then Google can often infer the subject of the page from the link text of the inbound link. As a result they will display URLs in SERPs for related searches. When using a disallow directive in a robots.txt file, it will prevent Google from crawling and indexing the URL, guaranteeing that the URL will never appear in the SERPs.

Using Meta Robot Tags to Stop Google Indexing

If you need to prevent Google from indexing URLs while preventing that URL from appearing in SERPs, the most effective approach is to have a meta robot with a content = "noindex" attribute within the main element of the web page Tags to be used. Of course, for Google to actually see this meta robot tag they first need to be able to search and crawl the page, so don't block URLs with robots.txt. When Google crawls the page and the Meta Robot noindex tag is detected, they will flag the URL so that it will never be shown in SERPs.
